The girls have been busy reading. Some serious reading. Everywhere we go they’ve got their heads in a book. More than a thousand pages down for each of them, and it’s only been two weeks since we have arrived. There is a little library at their school, and so they will soon start reading Dr. Seuss and other familiar children’s books in Spanish. Those will pale in comparison to the children’s novels they are reading now, but it will do. They still don’t understand how it could be that the closest book store is more than an hour drive from here and that there is no such thing as Amazon Prime in the DR ;-).
Today they made charts to track their progress with reading, writing, math, history (of the DR), Spanish language, exercise, money, art and music. I’m probably forgetting a topic, but we are amazed with their ambition and enthusiasm.
